In honor of San Diego Beer Week (Nov. 4th-13th) our good friend, home brewer, and personal chef Diolinda Monteiro took it upon herself to brew 4 very ambitious and unique beers that she’s offered to share with us (and you!)  We’ll be inviting her and her brews into the Rocket for the night on Thursday, November 3rd, and Chef Chad will be creating some special food pairings to highlight the flavors of each one.  Come have a taste, let her know what you think, and feel free to bring some of your own home brews in to share with her, us, and the rest of our guests if you like!

ABOUT THE BEERS

Big Brown Dog Espresso Porter – Brewed with Espresso Gold from local coffee roaster Ryan Bros. Coffee, this porter is malty sweet smooth espresso goodness with just a hint of organic vanilla.

The Fence Jumper Orange Nepitella Wheat – Heady with nepitella, this golden brew is made with organic California oranges from Be Wise Ranch and organic nepitella from Suzie’s Farm.

The Ankle Biter Peach Habanero Ale – With organic California peaches and organic habanero peppers from local Suzie’s Farm, this little sweetie will bite you back.

And, if it’s ready in time:
The Lap Dog Pumpkin Chai Spice Ale – Using three varieties of organic pumpkin from Suzie’s Farm and organic chai spice, this full bodied ale is aromatic and full of flavor.

ABOUT THE BREWER

“I am a personal chef and I tend to jump at every opportunity to work with food. I focus on local, organic, and fair trade in my food whenever possible and feel fortunate to live in San Diego where we have access to so many wonderful ingredients. I started Diolinda’s Kitchen in 2007 as a personal chef and small scale catering business specializing in handcrafted chocolates.  In terms of beer I am VERY new to brewing.  I started thinking seriously about brewing beer after spending my birthday last year at Sea Rocket Bistro watching Beer Wars!  The beers that I brought in to you and Chad were my first two batches and I can’t express to you how elated I was to hear that you enjoyed them!  My mission for brewing?  Same as my mission for food and confections – to make thoughtful creations that others enjoy and to continue to learn along the way. One of the reasons that I am particularly excited about our upcoming event is that I love to see beer and wine paired with food. I feel that food is always so much better when paired with the right drink.”
