I've been wanting to jump into the art scene going on in North Park for quite some time now, by participating in either Ray at Night or the new North Park Nights event that started up recently. I had some help from friends to get an art installation going this month- you'll notice art in the entryway, dining room hallway and both restrooms when you come in next- so now we'll be able to showcase works from the myriad of artists in the area fairly easily.

To get this going, and to celebrate my birthday (which is always the day after tax day, so indeed a day worth celebrating!), Sea Rocket Bistro will be hosting a Cocktails & Art Opening Party on Thursday, April 16th from 5 to 7pm. (We'll still be hosting a Thursday Night Movie at 7:30 as well.) Come enjoy some $5 "cocktail" specials (made with a rice vodka called shocho) such as blood orange screwdrivers and dirty martinis created to match the theme of our first art installation- pieces by Narisa Broomberg featuring jazz musicians and women in cocktail glasses, painted in deep, bold colors that look fantastic next to our purple and green walls.
