Well, we've enjoyed a week of Mission Brewery beers on draft and are looking forward to featuring Ballast Point Brewing Co. this weekend. But before that, we'll be hosting an unofficial gathering of the San Diego homebrewers club called QUAFF this Thursday, August 21st at 7pm to celebrate our friend Paul Gagnon's win of the Gold Medal Award from the American Homebrewers Association's 2008 National Homebrew Competition this June. Paul beat out hundreds of other entries with his Robust Porter, so we wanted to give people a chance to toast to his success. Everyone is invited to bring some of their own homebrews to share with the group, and of course we'll have our usual selection of local craft beers on draft for you to enjoy. Non-QUAFFer beer enthusiasts are encouraged to stop by to find out more about this club.

Now about the weekend. This Friday we'll have Ballast Point's James Murray, Lead Brewer and Assistant Distiller along with Chris Grundy (our trusted sales rep) with us to talk about the featured Ballast Point beers on draft, and Saturday Chris will be back again with John Maino, another Brewer. We're planning to feature their Wahoo Wheat, a Kolsch-style Yellowtail Pale Ale (hmm, maybe that would go well with our Yellowtail market fish entree?!), the Calico Amber Ale, and their Black Marlin Porter. So pick a night and come on down to join in the festivities and meet the people who make this great craft beer! As usual, we'll offer both 4-taster flights and full pours, as well as the suggested pairings to go with each item on our menu. Since our last blog, we've fine tuned our tasty Seafood Paella, and people seem to really love our Honey Beer Cake which will have that special Ballast Point flavor for the next week.
