Lamburger Launch, Wednesday June 10th

When we first opened the bistro, Dennis and I had grand plans of offering an Emu Burger- an incredibly lean red meat from just up the road in Santee. It lasted all of a few weeks before we realized that our source simply could not provide enough meat on a regular basis to keep this dish on the menu. The big birds had to be sent up to Northern California to be slaughtered and packaged in one of the few facilities on the West Coast approved for handling such an unusual product. So the Emu Burger quickly faded...
Fast forward to today. As we approach our one year anniversary we've developed all kinds of new and exciting sources over the past year, one of which involves some scrumptious ground lamb from Megan's Farm in Temecula. What's so great about her lamb besides being really local and farm-direct, is that it's also pastured (grass-fed) and the distances from the field to the slaughter house and packing plant are very low which reduces the stress the animals experience on the way, which in turn makes for a much more tender meat.
We've already turned this meat into a highly-craved, rich and spicy Lamb & Pinquito Bean Chili. But something was still missing...so to fill the needs of people around the world, or at least here in our little corner of San Diego, we're finally putting another burger on the menu! Also lean, but incredibly tasty (we'll be cooking it just to medium), this 1/3 pound Grilled Lamburger will be served on our rustic Cardamom ciabatta bread with a dash of our tangy chimichurri sauce and all of the usual "fixins"- lettuce, tomato and red onion. Then we'll throw in a seasonal side salad just for good measure. This satisfying sandwich will cost just 9 bucks on our regular menu (or 10 with your choice of either medium Winchester gouda or creamy goat cheese), but to really celebrate this long-awaited holy grail of burgers we will be offering it along with a local draft beer of our choosing (depending what we have on tap that day) for, yes, just $9 on Wednesday, June 10th, all night long.
Just as a reminder, we are a no-reservation restaurant, unless you have a party of more than 6 people. So just come on in, grab a seat, and make yourself comfortable. We're here to serve you unique, local, and sustainable foods every night from 5pm until everyone's fed!
