You may have seen the Zero electric motorcycle parked in the entry at Sea Rocket. Not messing up the planet is important to us, and I've found that a motorcycle is pretty much the best way for me to really get around in San Diego. My lazy legs get tired on mile 4 or 5 on my bicycle and my experience with the bus is that it only works great for certain destinations. And motorcycles are more fun than you can possibly imagine, so I'm happy that the Zero gets the equivalent of about 400 miles to the gallon. Unfortunately, they're not cheap. If you want to go electric on a budget, you should really check out this workshop in Hillcrest that our EV friend Jason Greenblatt told us about.
