Happy End of May 2012!
I’ll get right to it. Sea Rocket is turning 4 this year, and we are throwing a party to celebrate! All of the detail are on our blog but the short of it is that this Thursday, May 31st we’ll be doing tray-passed hors d’oeuvres, offering happy hour drink specials (and some special beer cocktails) all night long, and we’ll have a photo booth set up to record all of the precious moments with you. We hope you can make it to mix and mingle with us and with some of our wonderful vendors and other community partners, and help us kick off another year of bringing our mission to life- supplying the best craft beer, California wines, sustainable seafood and other local foods to our neighborhood of North Park, greater San Diego and beyond.
For the rest of weekend (June 1-3), we’ll be offering special dishes in a Recipes Revisited theme- favorite guest dishes from our 4 years in business! Don’t miss out on the chance to again taste our Wild Rice Salad, Sea Urchin Bisque, Baked Oysters, and Beet & Goat Cheese Tart (still the most oft requested archived recipe in our history!) Reservations can be made for dinner over the weekend as usual, but our party will be a casual pay-at-the-door mixer only.
In other news…
Our next cool menu change will be a new preparation of our vegan Grilled Seitan entree- we have collaborated with our vegan friends at LOVELIKEBEER, Green Flash Brewing and Seeds @ City Urban Farm to bring together an incredible pairing with a charitable purpose rolled in. The dish will feature a house-made Kimchee BBQ Sauce, Grilled Corn and Green Beans and our house-made Kimchee. After careful consideration and lots of beer-drinking with Kory and Derek from LLB (and some helpful input from Stone Brewing’s beer master Dr. Bill!) we decided that the red ipa that is Green Flash Hop Head Red would be the perfect pairing to the meal.
Per LLB’s request that a portion of proceeds from the dish be donated to a worthy cause every time it’s ordered, we selected Seeds @ City, the urban farm at City College used to teach urban agriculture. Every time you order this entree at Sea Rocket, we will donate to the farm to help keep it going!
