San Diego Beer Week is abrewing, and we’ve got beer on the brain!!  We’ve finalized our events for this 10-day marathon celebration of craft beer, and hope you can make it to a couple of them!  All events are also listed on facebook here for your reference!

Belgian Beer Kickoff Weekend
Friday, 11/2 & Saturday, 11/3
Sip on some of the best Belgian style beers in town during our kickoff to San Diego Beer Week! Tasting flights and the following Belgian-inspired prix fixe menu will be served!  Menu, including pairings, will cost $40.  Reservations recommended.

While not officially related to SDBW, we’ll be hosting a pop-up vegan brunch from 9am-2pm with vegan Chef Joseph Aguirre of True Kitchen Creatives.  Stop by to check out an impressive vegan brunch/lunch menu at the first of their San Diego events!


Roll Out The Barrel-Aged Beers

Like bourbon in your beer? Taste a variety of barrel-aged beers from different breweries side by side or one by one during this night of honoring the barrel. Some of these are only available in the bottle, but we’ll be pouring tasters and flights of them for one night!  All beers are Bourbon Barrel Aged unless otherwise noted.

Home Brewer’s Night: Sliders & Beer
Monday, 11/5
Sample a trio of sliders alongside innovative home brews by chef and home-brewing enthusiast Diolinda Monteiro.  The Sliders & Beer Pairings will be: Grass-Fed Burger Slider with Fried Onion Strings & BBQ Sauce paired with Mother’s Milk Stout, Beer Braised Pork Cheek Slider with Chilis paired with Howl at the Moon Pumpkin Chai Cream Ale, and Fried Oyster Slider with Cole Slaw paired with Basic Obedience Pale Ale. Feel free to bring some of your own home brews to share as well!


Tuesday Shuckfest: Oyster Specials with Beer (+ $1 Raw Oysters!)
Tuesday, 11/6 (Election Day…don’t forget to VOTE!)
Raw, Grilled, Fried?  Have them all ways at our special Oysters & Beer Fest on Tuesday, November 6th.  Savor some pairings of our local craft beers with our usual fresh & briny Baja Kumiai oysters + a few unique preparations: Cornmeal Fried Oysters with Jalapeno Aioli, Fried Oyster Po’ Boy Sliders, and Baked Oysters with béchamel sauce, spinach, cheese, and herbed breadcrumbs.  Our fresh-shucked oysters on the half shell will still be just $1 each all night as usual – all other preparations will be priced separately.


We’ll also be showing the election results on our big screen in the front room for anyone interested in following – so don’t forget to VOTE before coming out to slurp!

The Flavors of Yeast, Part 2 (daytime event!)
Saturday, 11/10 2-4pm
Join this second annual presentation by yeast expert Neva Parker as she discusses the nuances of how different yeast strains can affect the flavor of your beer and get you tips on how to get the beer you want when home brewing. Presentation will include samples of beer brewed by White Labs themselves – a set of Saisons with yeasts WLP565 Saison I, WLP566 Saison II, WLP568 Saison Yeast Blend, and WLP585 Saison III.  It’s a fine season for Saison!


Veteran’s Day Cider Dinner with Julian Hard Cider – “American to the Core”
Sunday, 11/11, 7pm (seating will be communal in the front room)
What do apples, cherries, blueberries and blackberries all have in common?  If you answered Julian Hard Cider…you’re right!  We’ll have all three of these west-coast sourced and locally produced and bottled hand-crafted hard ciders, paired with a custom built prix fixe menu that will highlight their unique and very food-worthy flavors.  At almost 7% ABV each, these fresh fruit juice based ciders are strong, crisp, dry and refreshing and are created in the simplest, most natural, and traditional way.  We will extend a 15% discount to all active and veteran service men and women for this event!  Reservations are required, please call 619-255-7049.
